Kompozer Tutorial
Ok, so you’ve probably downloaded your free Kompozer software and have been staring at it blankly for the last hour wondering where to start? You’re not alone, I did that too.
The old adage “it’s easy when you know how” best fits this little void that you’re experiencing. You’re telling yourself that you need some Kompozer help or some kind of Kompozer tutorial so you can cut out weeks of trial and error, cut out a huge chunk of learning curve and get yourself up and running as quick as yesterday.
If this is you (because it certainly was me
) then by now you’ve probably trauled all over Youtube, trying to make sense of lots of videos that only give you a snapshot, are out of focus, the narator mumbling so you can’t tell what he/she’s saying or worse still are dubbed over by some jangling, plate scraping music that ends up simply irritating you past distraction!
I know this because I did the same. Like most people, I learn faster by watching a video rather than reading a book or PDF on the subject. So imagine my relief when I found a resourse that gave me step by step videos all about Kompozer.
The videos cover everything from starting from scratch, working with templates and css, right through to creating Johnson boxes and tables.
The cost of the videos is a one off payment of $37 for a whole year, which, if you concider how much you’ve saved in getting a free web editor, shouldn’t hurt your bank too much. I try to market as cost efficiently as I can but some outlays are well worth it and this has got to be an essential one.

Kompozer Review
If you’re starting out online and are looking to create a professional looking website that doesn’t involve you taking a Master’s Degree to accomplish then Kompozer is definitely right up your street. This is the one aspect of Internet Marketing that challenged me the greatest. It got to the point that it was almost a phobia, and there was a time when I truly began to believe that I had hit a brick wall and that the only way I was ever going to get a decent looking website up and running was to pay through the nose for a web designer to do it for me. Something that I couldn’t afford to do at the time.
Then I stubbled upon Kompozer. A fully integrated web editor that ran on wysiwyg (what you see is what you get). No complicated html and really simple to use. A fantastic piece of software for the novice, but still used by web users that are experienced. It is truly a formidable adversary to Dreamweaver. Ok, it hasn’t got all of the bells and whistles that Dreamweaver boasts but as it’s free whereas Dreamweaver is several hundred dollars, it makes a few bells and whistles a very expensive luxury!
Kompozer’s site manager is very simple and quick which means all you really need is your web hosting and a URL and you can be up and running in a matter of hours.
Although it’s always helpful to have a little html knowledge you can get by without it quite easily. I’m completely html dyslexic, I simply can’t memorise it or store it in my mind as I can’t relate it’s meening so I refer to a fantastic Squidoo lens I found and save it to one of my favourites folders.

Once you’ve created you page(s) it’s then just a matter of one click and it’s uploaded onto your webhost. You don’t need to have a separate FTP program although I’m used to them so I do it that way.

Drawbacks
Kompozer does have it’s limitations and you should be aware of these. It does struggle if you try to do complex nested tables, however if you’re just wanting to do presentable web pages and the ability to add pictures, forms, links and basic tables then you won’t find any major challenges. Depending on how experienced you are then the challenges of using more complex tables can be overcome with a little patients.
Overall Rating ![]()
If you’re a novice, don’t want to learn complicated html or don’t want to hurt your wallet buying an expensive web editor then Kompozer is for you. So despite having some limitations I’ve got to say that overall it’s a good, easy to use program, especially if you’re wanting to design squeeze pages on the fly and simple clean websites.
