Choosing The Best Web Host

Everyone who has a website will need to have hosting for it.  But the question of which one to choose can be a tricky one.

When choosing, there are some crucial points to take into consideration.  A poor web host can result in poor rankings, interuption of service to your website and ultimately loss of income.

Free web hosting is always best avoided, and no, I’m not just saying that, it’s often extremely unreliable.  Web hosting is not a huge business cost, you can get good hosting for under $10 a month so scrimping on it really isn’t worth the potential income that you could miss out on if/when it lets you down.

The key qualities of a good web host are :

  • Consistency  – very little breaks in service for maintenance.
  • Good Customer Service – Ideally the web host should have 24/7 assistance to help you out.
  • Easy to use – no complicated, trendy looking structure that just ends up confusing you.

The web hosting that I personally use for all of my sites is Hostgator.  In fact, as you read in a lot of Internet Marketing forums, you’ll find that a lot of website owners also use Hostgator too.  The reason I use it is because I find that it is really rare that they ever have a break in their service for maintenance.  Imagine how frustrating it would be to spend hours of effort in friving traffic to your site, only to have your visitors getting a ‘website temporarily unavailable’ page come up – think of the income and prospects that you can lose in just a couple of hours !

I also found that the Hostgator support staff where so helpful to me when I first started online.  I was completely confused with the cpanel (where everything about your website is controlled) was like Chinese.  The cpanel is however really easy so don’t be put off.  You won’t even use the vast majority of it.

They have several plans available however I recommend that you go for the ‘Baby Plan’ which is $7.95 per month as this will allow you to host unlimited domains.  There is a plan that is only $4.95 but you can only host one domain which most Internet Marketers don’t find is enough.
